Bureau Veritas represents an innovative design for a 19,000 cbm LNG bunker vessel (LNGBV) with a GTT membrane category.

As BV said, Marinnov’s highly manoeuvrable dual-fuel liquid natural gas ship concept becomes universal most sophisticated and largest capacity designs, first-ever of this kind.

Its safety level is extremely high, while coastal navigation, port operations possibilities show the best indicators.

Special designing features/propulsion arrangements:

  • Each hull corner completed by four azimuth (360) thrusters
  • 4 dual fuel generator sets engine room compartment (electric thruster motors power providing)
  • redundant dynamic positioning (DP) system

Inventors provided two different diameter substances bunkering manifolds (transfer flow rate: 250 - 2 thousand m3/h)

Storage/supply complex will be installed below deck without compromising freight holding space.

Area restrictions led to several ingenious decisions projected by famous technical group Wärtsilä:

  • 34DF main motor
  • gearbox
  • controlled pitch propeller (CPP) with HP nozzle
  • LNGPac framework.

Gas-carring was designed under 0.7 bar maximum pressure, craft obtains 2 identical membrane-type tanks.

Working process involved separate greatest engineering companies synergy (Gaztransport & Technigaz, Air Liquide), resulting in

streamlined decision approved combining some really rational insulation cargo reservoir devices, using sub-cooling unit type TBF-700, or vapor handling installation covering the whole intended maintenance/clients’ services spectrum.
